On Monday it was announced that the Paducah & Louisville Railway will receive $29.5 million in federal funding for infrastructure improvements.
P&L said it plans to use the grant money to rehabilitate locomotives in their fleet, replace 23 bridges, and upgrade the track and signal system along P&L’s 280-mile main rail line.
The grant was part of $1.4 billion awarded to 35 states for improvement of rail safety and capacity nationwide.
The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded the money through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
