SUNDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE:
The body of a missing boater that fell overboard on Kentucky Lake has been found.

A fisherman in a boat near the opening of the Blood River called Calloway 911 around 2:00 pm Sunday afternoon to alert them of what he believed to be a body in the water.

Emergency responders from Calloway, Marshall, and McCracken Counties went to the scene where they found the body of 51-year-old Steve Simpkins.

The body was recovered and released to Calloway County Coroner Ricky Garland.

Authorities appreciate the help of all that rendered service during this incident.

SUNDAY MORNING UPDATE:
The search resumed on Sunday morning for a missing man after he fell overboard while fishing from a boat on Kentucky Lake.

The Calloway County Fire and Rescue Squad posted that six other emergency management crews have joined in the search from Marshall, Graves, McCracken and Calloway counties with multiple boats conducting sonar searches.


ORIGINAL STORY:
One man is missing after two men reportedly fell overboard from a boat on Kentucky Lake Saturday morning.

According to Calloway County Fire and Rescue, the incident occurred around 7 a.m. near the Hamlin area. One of the men was able to swim to a nearby island and call for help. Emergency dispatchers with Calloway County 911 were able to trace the caller's phone location, allowing responders to locate and rescue him within 30 minutes.

The boat was found further down the lake still under power, going in circles in the lake. 

The Calloway County Office of Emergency Management, Calloway Fire and Rescue were joined by the Marshall County Rescue Squad and Kentucky Dept. of Fish & Wildlife personnel, and a search continued until darkness Saturday. 

Crews resumed the search at daylight on Sunday morning.
