A Murray man was jailed after he fled from police twice on Tuesday night.
Calloway County Sheriff's deputies said they spotted a vehicle on KY 80 operated by who they believed was 42-year-old Mark Anthony Hutson of Murray. Deputies were familiar with Hutson and knew his driver's license had been suspended. When they turned to get behind the vehicle, the driver sped up and turned off 80 onto Todd Road to try and get away.
Deputies pursued as the driver fled at a high rate of speed, but they lost sight of him near Irvin Cobb Road. An arrest warrant was sworn out for Hutson.
Later on Tuesday night, at about 11:30 p.m., the deputies involved in the earlier pursuit located the fleeing vehicle on Hardin-Wadesboro Road. Hutson allegedly fled again and is said to have blown through several big intersections without regard to the safety of others. Eventually, Hutson lost control of the vehicle in a curve and drove into a field. Deputies utilized a P.I.T. maneuver to bring the pursuit to a conclusion. However, Hutson reportedly resisted as deputies tried to arrest him. One deputy
broke a finger in the scuffle.
According to the Calloway County Sheriff's Office, Hutson was out on bond from several theft and drug charges dating back to 2022. He is now additionally charged with assault, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license, and resisting arrest.
