The flash flood emergency in the city of Hickman includes dealing with a mudslide in the downtown area caused by the torrential rains.
KYTC personnel are working with the city of Hickman along KY 94 where a mudslide is blocking a section of Carroll Street in the downtown area. The hillside has continued to move in this area, carrying trees along with it.
The roadway will likely remain closed for several days until the hillside can dry out so engineers can determine how to safely clear the roadway and stabilize the area.
The National Weather Service said Friday morning that Hickman has received about 10 inches of rain since Wednesday night and Thursday morning, including 5.5 inches on Friday by 6 a.m.
Meanwhile, roadways are flooded in many other locations too numerous to list.
