Some students from southern Illinois' Dongola High School will continue to attend a neighboring school because of a continuing shortage of teachers.
The Dongola school board voted this week to allow 35 Dongola students to continue attending Vienna High School. The board originally decided to move the students last May due to the teacher shortage and the need for more qualified teachers.
For the next school year, Vienna High School is expected to receive 49 students from the Dongola freshmen, sophomore and junior classes.
Seniors from Dongola can either attend Vienna or work with an early college academy program through Shawnee Community College.
