Metropolis woman arrested on drug charges following stop for speeding

A Metropolis woman was arrested and faces drug charges following a traffic stop just off I-24.

Metropolis Police stopped a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Makala A. Harris after clocking her allegedly traveling 89 mph in a 70 mph zone. Police got Harris to stop off the exit at US 45 and I-24. She reportedly was driving with an expired registration. A search of the vehicle is said to have uncovered fentanyl and clonazepam. 

Harris was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substances, suspended registration, and speeding.
