Metropolis man accused of domestic battery

A report of a domestic disturbance landed a Metropolis man behind bars last week.

Authorities responded to a home on Hospital Drive where the victim alleged 32-year-old Tayler A. Stewart woke her up demanding she unlock her phone.

Stewart reportedly put a pillow and blanket over her face, impacting her breathing before she was able to get away.

Stewart was charged with aggravated domestic battery and taken to the Massac County jail.
