A deputy with the Marshall County Special Response Team was wounded in an incident with a barricaded subject in Murray.

Murray Police said they were called to a residence in the 1300 block of Johnson Boulevard at about 10 p.m. Thursday to conduct a welfare check on an individual. When they arrived, they were met by that individual and he was brandishing a gun. After pointing the gun at officers, he barricaded himself in the home. Murray police obtained a warrant for the man's arrest and called the Marshall County Sheriff's Office for assistance.

Marshall County sent their Special Response Team to the scene at about 11 p.m. When they reached the address, the man in the home fired at them and hit one of the SRT deputies "multiple times." Deputies returned fire, wounding the suspect.

The deputy was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released. The suspect, meanwhile, was flown to a hospital for treatment.

Murray Police and the Marshall County Sheriff's Office both said that they would not be releasing any more information on the incident. The investigation has been handed over to Kentucky State Police.
