Ky. Treasurer Metcalf says there's over $7.1 million in unclaimed property in McCracken County

Kentucky State Treasurer Mark Metcalfe announced Monday there's over $7.1 million in unclaimed property for McCracken County residents.

.Unclaimed property refers to financial assets left inactive for a period of time (typically three years), after which they are transferred to the Treasury for safekeeping. Examples include:

• Dormant bank accounts
• Unclaimed insurance policies
• Utility deposits
• Stocks and bonds
• Safe deposit box contents

“This money belongs to the people of McCracken County,” said Treasurer Metcalf. “With more than $7 million available, I strongly encourage everyone to search our database and claim what is theirs.”

McCracken County residents can search the Treasury’s online database at www.treasury.ky.gov to see if unclaimed property is owed to them.

Since taking office on January 1, 2024, Treasurer Metcalf has returned a record-breaking $79.1 million to Kentuckians.
