A Kevil woman was taken to the hospital after being extricated from her vehicle following an accident early Thursday morning.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said Amanda Selph was driving west on Blandville Road when she lost control of the vehicle. Her vehicle left the roadway, and struck the wooden support beams for the railroad overpass at Blandville Road near Childress Road.

Selph suffered incapacitating injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Selph was transported to a local hospital for initial treatment of injuries, with further treatment at an out of state hospital likely, due to the severity of her injuries.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said railroad inspectors determined the bridge required immediate repairs before rail traffic can resume. A Canadian Railroad (CNRR) crew arrived at the site and started work about 7:30 am with the work expected to take up to five hours to complete.
