The groundbreaking ceremony for Paducah's City Block project is set for this Friday.
The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. and feature Governor Andy Beshear joining Mayor George Bray and Paducah city officials, along with representatives of Weyland Ventures.
The groundbreaking will mark the start of the first phase of construction. Phase one will include a boutique hotel, parking, green space, and a promenade. Plans for the hotel include a rooftop bar, restaurant, and retail space. The target for the hotel to be completed is sometime in the spring of 2024.
The project will sit on the block bordered by Broadway, Jefferson Street, Second Street, and Water Street. The City of Paducah and Weyland Ventures put the project in motion with a development agreement in 2020.
A second phase of the project will include a mixed-use development with retail and living space.
