A Paducah man was arrested following a four-hour long standoff with authorities on Thursday.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said 42-year-old Phillip Stout is in custody following the standoff.

Deputies said they received information that Stout was at a home in the 6000 block of Mayfield Metropolis Road. Deputies attempted to find Stout at the home, but said Stout barricaded himself in a room and made threats of harm.

Multiple deputies responded to the area and the roadway was closed to attempt to protect the public. Deputies discovered that firearms were accessible to Stout during the early stages of the standoff.

Crisis negotiators and the Special Service Team of the Sheriff’s Office responded and immediately began to open a line of communication with Stout. A little over four hours later, Stout peacefully came out of the home and deputies were able to take him into custody.

Stout was arrested on warrants for probation violation, contempt of court, and bail jumping, with underlying charges of trafficking in methamphetamine, opiates and marijuana.
