Hurricane Helene made landfall overnight in Florida, but advance storms from the tropical system have already arrived in the Quad State.
It will become very windy by late morning with gusts of 40 to 50 miles per hour, peaking this afternoon. Higher gusts are possible which could bring some tree and power line damage. A wind advisory is in effect.
Tropical downpours could occur at any time today and tonight, especially as the tropical depression stalls just to our southeast into Saturday.
Rain totals from 2 to 5 inches will be widespread. A flood watch is in effect through Friday night for our entire region.
