Fish and Wildlife law enforcement welcome K9 officers

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife welcomed three K9 officers to its ranks on Tuesday.

The new additions to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement include sibling Labrador Retrievers Cosmo, River, and Gambit.

Conservation Officer Evan Hughes and K9 Cosmo will serve Region 1 in western Kentucky. Officer Cody Berry and Gambit will serve Region 2 in southcentral Kentucky, and Officer Glenn Griffie and River will be stationed in Region 5 in eastern Kentucky.

The officers spent three weeks receiving training to handle and communicate with the K9s at the Highland Canine Training center in North Carolina.

The three dogs have been trained to assist ini the field with trailing, article location, and narcotics detection.
