Demolition of old Cumberland River bridge planned for late October

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has a tentative date for the demolition of the old Cumberland River bridge in Smithland.

Demolition of the main truss on the old bridge is now expected to take place around the last couple of weeks in October. 

A sub-contractor plans to start taking the deck off of the old bridge in coming weeks. Some equipment has been delivered to the worksite in preparation of that work to begin.

KYTC will provide updates for the demolition date, and opportunities to view the demolition from approved safe locations.
