The father of a 4-year-old killed in a traffic accident in Carlisle County in 2023 is now facing charges for the child's death, including murder.
The Carlisle County Sheriff's Office said Lucas Shehorn of Bardwell is being charged with murder, 1st degree assault and persistent felony offender after Kentucky State Police presented their case to a Carlisle County Grand Jury on Thursday.
The case was in reference to a 2-vehicle collision that occurred on May 21st, 2023, at the intersection of US Highway 62 and KY Highway 307. The accident resulted in the death of 4-year-old Bailey Brooke Shehorn who was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her father.
A Carlisle County Deputy arrested Shehorn at his home on Thursday night.
The Carlisle County Sheriff's office said the investigation is still ongoing.
They added the press release regarding this case is very sensitive and emotional for Bailey's family, and that Bailey’s mother was consulted with and approved its release prior to it being made public.
