Calloway firefighters battle weekend field fire

Firefighters in Calloway County are advising the public to be mindful when burning during the hot and dry weather after battling a field fire.

Calloway County Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a wheat field fire over the weekend that was getting close to a house and building in the Lynn Grove community.

Officials said the fire burned quickly, but thanks to the quick response of fire personnel, it was extinguished without damage to any property.

They remind the public of the hot and dry weather expected through the remainder of the week, and advise against burning anything during this time. If burning is necessary, ensure appropriate safety measures are in place.
