On Tuesday, Fulton County Judge-executive Jim Martin instituted a burn ban for the county effective immediately.
Martin said the burn ban would remain in place "until a sufficient amount of rain has covered the county, or other circumstances occur."
In southern Illinois, the village of Karnak issued their own burn ban on Monday until further notice.
Other burn bans have previously been declared in southeast Missouri, and Fredericktown, Missouri has already postponed its fireworks celebration due to lack of rain.
