A new "Team Kentucky" license plate design is being added to the standard options for commonwealth drivers.
Governor Andy Beshear announced the new design on Thursday saying it will allow drivers to show pride in Kentucky, as well as strength and unity-two things he said "Team Kentucky" has come to symbolize during the pandemic and the state's recent natural disasters.
Beginning October 24th the plates will be available in county clerk's offices. The new plates are digitally printed on flat aluminum and the new design did not cost the state any additional money.
Standard renewal fees apply for the new plates. As with the other standard design, drivers can opt for the words "In God We Trust" on the new "Team Kentucky" plate.
