Applications for a free adult coding training class hosted by Codefi will close on January 17.

No prior experience is required and scholarships are provided to those admitted to the program.

After applying, individuals will complete an intro to HTML course that takes approximately 10-15 hours to complete. Following the course is a phone interview with a Code Labs Program Manager to learn about reasons for applying.

Participants will gain access to the support of the program including a Code Coach that leads face-to-face learning, coaches who offer virtual office hours, a communication platform with everyone in the same class, and access as a member of the Rural Source National Employment Network.

The program is rigorous although he amount of work needed to complete keeps in mind individuals who have full-time jobs. However, it's recommended at least 20 hours a week are dedicated to learning.

Code Labs is a tech education and on-the-job training program provided to adults in rural communities in Kentucky and Missouri. The program provides the skills, practical experience, and job readiness to prepare graduates for high-salary, high-quality, entry-level software developer jobs.

The Department of Labor and Delta Regional Authority awarded codefi and partners nearly $1.7 million last year to expand the Code Labs program from Cape Girardeau to nine communities in Missouri and Kentucky.

Kentucky communities include Paducah, Murray, Hopkinsville, and Madisonville.
