Amanda Pittman is a third-grade teacher at Murray Elementary and is our November winner. We interrupted drama club to get "Ten Questions with Mrs. Pittman"
1. What is your first memory from school?
My first memory of school is in the gym on the rolling things.
2. Is there a quote or saying that you live your life by?
Live life with grace and kindness.
3. What makes a good day at school?
Everyone being here! (“And not sick,” added her daughter Harper.)
4. What sort of morning routine do you have to get jazzed for class?
We do a lot of singing and dancing. We greet everybody.
5. How do you remember all of your students’ names?
I get to know their personalities before they even get to class. We get to do home visits. It’s really cool, I get to make connections with their families, all the brothers and sisters. This school is just super awesome because we get to do that.
6. What school sport or activity do you enjoy watching?
Drama Club
7. If you could take your students on a field trip anywhere in the world, where would you take them and why?
Washington, D. C. I love history and the government.
8. What would you students be surprised to find out about you? Or What is one of your hidden talents?
My students would probably be surprised that I was not a very good math student. But I teach math now.
9. How do you show your school spirit?
Black and Gold every Friday. We take spirit day very seriously.
10. If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share?
Be yourself, always. I know it’s hard, but continue to be yourself.
