On Friday, Paducah native Captain Chaplain Joseph “Stoney” Douthitt graduated from the Defense Comptroller Program of Syracuse University.

The intensive program will grant Douthitt a Master’s in Business Administration from the Whitman School of Management and both an Executive Master’s in Public Administration and a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the Maxwell School of Public Administration.

The Heath High School graduate was commissioned into U.S. Army as a Chaplain in 2014 after serving in the civilian ministry for 20 years. He received his undergraduate degree in Business and Economics from the University of Kentucky, a Master’s of Science in Economics from Murray State University and a Master’s of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.

Douthitt will utilize his new degrees during a 3-year assignment as the U. S. Army’s Installation Management Chaplain Comptroller in San Antonio, Texas. He has also been selected to promote to the rank of Major in October 2022.
