At the state's 50th annual meeting of the Kentucky Association of Counties, a western Kentucky elementary student was one of the top winners of the statewide "I Love My Kentucky County" art contest.
Graves County resident Layla Scoggins won second place among more than 600 enties with her artwork depicting the Graves County courthouse before and after the devastating 2021 tornado.
Scoggins was honored Friday at the conference at the Galt House in Louisville. She also received a cash prize and her work will be featured in County Line magazine.
Students from kindergarten through eighth grade were invited to submit entries.
