State honors are coming for the Fredonia Valley Heritage Society, and for the veterans memorial they created.

On Monday, members were notified by the Kentucky Historical Society that their group and their project will receive Kentucky History Awards at a ceremony in Frankfort.

The memorial on Cassidy Avenue is comprised of flags and plaques representing local veterans, along with hundreds of memorial bricks sold since 2022.

WPKY reports that the event will take place on Saturday, June 3 at the Thomas D. Clark Center in Frankfort for “Kentucky History Day” — which was formerly known as “Boone Day.” Doors open at 9 AM for a reception before the ceremony takes place from 9:30-11 AM.
