Oak Grove Man Hurt in Icy I-24 Crash
By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH, KY - Authorities say slick roads were to blame for a Thursday morning crash on I-24 that injured an Oak Grove man.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says deputies responded shortly after 8 am to a single-vehicle crash on I-24 at the Exit 16 eastbound on ramp.

Deputies said 20-year-old Kolbey Bengston of Oak Grove was driving east on I-24 near Exit 16 when he lost control of the vehicle and slid off the icy roadway, hitting the median cable barrier. His vehicle then traveled back onto the roadway and stopped, blocking the right lane near the eastbound ramp.

Bengston was taken to Lourdes Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Two passengers in his vehicle were not injured.

I-24 was reduced to one lane for about 45 minutes, and the Exit 16 on ramp was closed briefly after the crash.
