Crash on Hwy. 62 Leads to Charges Against Driver
By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH, KY - A single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon injured the driver, who is also facing charges.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened at 4:39 pm at the intersection of Blandville Road (U.S. Highway 62) and North Gum Springs Road. Deputies say 39-year-old Amber Thayer of Benton was westbound on Blandville Road when her vehicle left the road. The car traveled through a ditch, hit a utility pole and stopped in a wooded area.

Thayer was taken to a local hospital by Mercy EMS for treatment of her injuries. Deputies determined in their investigation that she was under the influence of alcohol, so Thayer was cited to appear in court for DUI, driving on a DUI suspended license, and not having proof of insurance.

Traffic on the highway was affected by the accident because a power line came down in the accident.
