Donna Groves, News Director
Donna Groves first began work in the WKYX News Department in 1986. With the exception of a few years in the early 90s when she went to work for the Paducah Sun, she has been news director at Bristol Broadcasting for most of her career.

Donna is a 1981 graduate of Lone Oak High School. She earned an associate’s degree from Paducah Community College in 1982 and graduated from Murray State University in 1984 with a bachelor's degree, having earned a double major in journalism and in radio/television.

Donna has won numerous Associated Press awards, including Best Reporter in the state nine times.

With a passion for saving animals, Donna volunteers with Project Hope No-Kill Humane Society in Metropolis, where she serves as its treasurer. She also assists her boyfriend, Stefan Jagoe, with the Grace Episcopal Church Youth Group. She enjoys spending time with her cats - Sweetness, Rusty, Hobbit, Snowball (who is deaf), Riley (who is blind in one eye), Stevie (who is partially blind), and Herbie (who has three legs).

Greg Dunker, WKYX Morning Show Host/Program Director
Greg Dunker is certainly in the right profession, because he talks a lot. All the time. He never stops. Wisecracks, stories, remembrances, rants, quips, puns, allusions, quotes, opinions, Dunker just goes on and on.

Dunker talked his way through Lone Oak High School, all the way into Paducah Community College, where he first put his big mouth behind a microphone. The rest, as they say, is conversational history.

His colleagues at Bristol Broadcasting have endured this non-stop dialogue since 1986. Dunker has hosted the morning show on WKYX since 2004. He spends his spare time annoying the mayor and governor, and adding to his hot sauce collection.

A card-carrying member of the Emil Verban Memorial Society, Dunker knows all the words to "Go Cubs Go". He's been married to his wife Denise since 1989. They and their three cats live in Paducah.

Joe Jackson, Mayfield and Sports Reporter
Joe Jackson has been with Bristol Broadcasting since April of 2004. Joe does news and sports for Bristol and is also the play-by-play voice of the Graves County Eagles. Joe and his wife Leigh Ann have two boys, Peyton and Reece, and live in Benton. Joe was born in west Tennessee and graduated from Livingston Central High School in 1992. In 1997, he graduated from Murray State University with a B.S. degree in Electronic Journalism. Joe has won several Associated Press Awards including Best Reporter. In his spare time, Joe enjoys playing basketball, watching ESPN and spending time with his family.

Barry Wright, WKYX Afternoon News Reporter
Barry Wright returned to the Paducah airwaves in July 2008 as a News Reporter for Bristol Broadcasting. Barry is no stranger to the area having worked for stations in Western Kentucky and Northwest Tennessee. He enjoys working alongside News Director Donna Groves and Reporter Joe Jackson in getting the news that matters to you. Barry is very excited about the new web site because it's taking us to a new level that will make you keep WKYX on the top of your mind for news coverage. Barry has a degree in Communications/Broadcasting from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Barry is orginally from Martin, Tennessee. Barry is a huge Tennessee Titans and Nashville Predators fan and enjoys attending their games along with spending time with his family and friends.

Kevin Stewart, Sports Reporter
Kevin Stewart has covered sports for most his life. He worked 20 years as a writer and columnist for the Paducah Sun, covering two World Series, several Final Fours and writing extensively about Kentucky, Louisville and Murray State sports as well as area high school sports. Kevin witnessed, reported on and gave insights into UK’s basketball pinnacles, covering the Wildcats in four Final Fours, including their national championships in 1996 in New York and 1998 in San Antonio. Kevin opened the area’s first baseball card and comic book collectors shop over 20 years ago, a business that remains in the same location today in downtown Paducah. He’s also an avid collector and Ebayer, specializing in vintage baby boomer collectibles and toys as well as TV, movie and sports memorabilia. Kevin has worked for Bristol since July 2008.

Chris Taylor, Murray Reporter
Chris Taylor is our reporter for the Murray-Calloway County area. He is currently a Mass Communications graduate student at Murray State University, earning his bachelor's degree in electronic media from MSU in 2006. He also works as a graduate assistant at MSU, where he instructs an audio/video editing lab.

In between school and work, Chris spends most of his time with his daughter Kiera.

JP Roberts, Traffic Reporter
JP Roberts is a life-long Paducahan. He graduated from Tilghman High School in 1981 and attended Paducah Community College and Murray State University . JP started his law enforcement career in 1987 and retired from the Paducah Police Department on May 31, 2008. He enjoys spending time with family, especially his son James, who attends Lone Oak High School. JP is a huge NFL fan, especially of the 49ers, and enjoys getting together with friends to watch the big game of the week. He likes going out to dinner, catching a new movie and hanging out with friends and enjoys tinkering with technology and loves gadgets.

Ro Morse, Content Editor
Ro has been recording recipes and announcements with Bristol Broadcasting since 1993. She has authored, published and marketed three local cookbooks plus "100 Things to Enjoy in Historic Paducah",  the "Paducah Wall to Wall" floodwall mural book and is the project coordinator of the Mural Advisory Board. As a native Paducahan, Ro has a history of community involvement including: founder and owner of Whaler's Catch Restaurant, Market and Catering for over 15 years; project manager for the Jubilee Riverboat; Executive Director of the Paducah-McCracken Tourism (also served as their marketing director); co-founded and organized first ever BBQ on the River and Downtown After Dinner Event; project coordinator & partner with Paducah Preservation, LLC restoring the historic 1/2 block Petter property on Broadway, named RiverPlace; Interim Director for the River Heritage Museum during their original restoration phase, Downtown Events Coordinator for the City of Paducah; and part-time Culinary Arts Instructor at WKCTC. She has a vast array of experience in organizing community events and as a Paducah business person, brings that knowledge with her to the Bristol team.

Ro lives in Paducah with husband Gary, has two sons, and daughter-in-law and cherishes her time with little granddaughter, Katelyn Marie. Her two bonus children are married with two granddaughters who live in East TN. Ro enjoys cooking for her family and friends. She squeezes in bicycling & tennis with her husband and friends, gardening and photography.

Karen Farthing, Web Site Reporter
Don’t ask Karen where her hometown is – she won’t be able to tell you. Karen was a military brat and grew up all over the world. As soon as she could, she joined the military and continued traveling. She has lived in 10 different countries, 16 different states, and as soon as all of her kids are raised she plans to pull up stakes and travel some more!

A self-avowed “gun nut”, Karen says that someday she’ll be that crazy lady who lives back in the woods with too many dogs and too many guns! Until then, she plans to continue following politics – just to keep up with what’s going on. A news junkie, Karen listens almost exclusively to talk radio and reads as many newspapers as she can get her hands on.

Brian York, Web Site Reporter
Brian York is a 2007 graduate of Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations. Having spent six years working as a reporter at the Marshall County Tribune-Courier, Brian simply finds himself drawn to journalism and reporting, despite having a PR degree. Working for Bristol Broadcasting is Brian's first step in radio and website reporting and he is more than excited for the opportunity and challenge of the work ahead.

Brian works weekends up-dating news stories for the WestKyStar.com and DJ’s on WKYQ. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with wife Kaycee and their two children, one a dog named Baxter and the other a cat named Jenna. Brian is also an avid sports fan as he lives and dies with the Cubs, although there are few highs. In the fall it's Ohio State football and in the winter, of course, go Cats..

Jim Hall, Web Site Reporter
Jim Hall has been a news and sports reporter throughout western Kentucky and southern Illinois since 1985, when he first worked professionally at the Tribune-Courier in Benton.

Since then, Jim has seen stints at The Crittenden Press, The Paducah Sun, The Daily News in Bowling Green, and the Sparta News-Plaindealer.

His most recent position, before coming to West Kentucky Star in May of 2009, was at the Metropolis Planet, where he served as news reporter and sports editor for nine years, and where he interviewed or photographed celebrities such as Julie Newmar, Bill Engvall, Margot Kidder, Lou Ferigno, Noel Neill and Adam West. As a sports writer, he has covered several high school state championship events and the 1985 World Series.

As a news reporter, he has had the opportunity to come face-to-face with a variety of state and national politicians, including Barack Obama, when Obama was campaigning for U.S. Senate and then for president.
During the course of his work, Jim has photographed or spoken with each of the last three U.S. presidents.

In his spare time, Jim is an avid golfer and photographer.

Candi Freeland, Web Site Reporter
Born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri but raised in Murray, Kentucky, Candi Freeland is a graduate of Calloway County High School and Murray State University. 

She enjoys presidential history, Marlon Brando movies, Hugh Grant movies, and the music of Billie Holiday and Patsy Cline.  She loves being in Paducah!  More than anything though, she loves being a mom.

Chris Bradley, Web Site Reporter
Chris Bradley has worked in radio since 2001 in Bowling Green KY where he graduated from Western KY University in 2005 with a BA in Radio and TV Operations.  He has since moved around a bit bringing him to Murray where he and his wife, Jessica, have lived since 2006.  When Chris isn't following stories, he spends his time coaching a roller derby team in Southern Illinios and reading philosophy books.
