West Kentucky Community and Technical College will offer summer basketball and cheerleading camps for elementary and middle school students this month. Students are offered weeklong sessions that will be held in Haws Gymnasium on the WKCTC campus.

Basketball camp will be held July 14-17 for ages seven through thirteen. WKCTC basketball coach Daniel Potts will be teaching sound fundamentals to beginners as well provide highly competitive skills and drills for more advanced players.

Campers will learn drills they can perform during the off-season to help their game improve to the next level. "Offering this camp is a way to invite kids to the WKCTC campus and not only improve their athletic skills, but build relationships for the future." Coach Potts said. Registration for the basketball camps is $60 per week.

The cheerleading camps will be held July 21-23 for ages seven through nine and July 28-30 for ages ten through twelve. The WKCTC cheerleading coach Sarita Robinson will teach campers the fundamentals of cheerleading as well as basic dance and tumbling skills.

"As our basketball and cheerleading programs continue to grow, we want to reach out and be more involved with the youth in our community," Robinson said. Early registration for the cheerleading camp is $35 before July 14, and includes a free cheer t-shirt. Late registration is $45.
