There's nothing small about a local youth's passion for riding miniature bulls, and he is on his way to Vegas to compete in the sport's world finals later this month.

Blaze Brown, a nine year-old from Marshall County and fourth-grade student at Sharp Elementary, has qualified for the four round Miniature Bull Riders world finals in Las Vegas.

The top 10 competitors in each division are chosen as finalists, and will compete at the South Point Arena in Las Vegas October 21-24.

Brown is currently number eight in the world standings, and says he hopes to secure the world champion title.

Blaze's father, Beau Brown rode bulls in high school, and bull riding is just something that is in the family's blood.

"We've just always been around bull riding. We ride horses and go to rodeos all the time," Brown said.

Brown says Blaze wants to graduate to full size bulls eventually, and compete on a professional level. "His goal is to be the PBR world champion," Brown said. "That's what he wants to do for a career."

The winner of the competition will get a trophy, belt buckle and a cash prize.

Blaze thanked his sponsors, Four Rivers Harley-Davidson. Polaris of Benton. Todd Fuqua Leather Shop, West Kentucky Chuck Wagon Races, New World RV, The Strawberry Roan and Paw n Brownie. He will be doing a meet and greet at Polaris of Benton Saturday October 17, from 11:00 am-3:00 pm.
