The McCracken County Lady Mustangs fell short in the girls state championship game against Sacred Heart Saturday evening at Rupp Arena.

It was the second consecutive trip for the Lady Mustangs to the championship game, with a second straight runner-up finish, both to the Valkyries of Sacred Heart.

McCracken County kept the game close in the first half, trailing by only four at the halftime break.

However the Valkyries extended the lead to double digits in the third quarter, and the Lady Mustangs were never able to overcome it.

Sacred Heart won the game, 60-49, to claim a record fourth straight championship.

The Lady Mustangs were led in the game by Claire Johnson with 24 points.
