Fulton Independent School has hired Mark Roberson, Jr. as its new head basketball coach for its high school girls’ basketball team. Roberson is a current resident of Martin, TN, but was originally from Hickman before moving to and graduating from Dresden High School in 2005, where he played for long-time, successful coach Chuck West and coach Tommy Dilday.

Roberson has served the last three seasons as an assistant with the boys’ program under Dilday at Dresden High School. Prior to that, he spent two years as an assistant with the high school girls’ program at Fulton County High School.

Roberson inherits a Lady Bulldogs team that returns three starters, including senior, All-District performer Hailey Baggett, senior Anyia Jones, and sophomore Jasmine Reeves. The team looks forward to the addition of a strong group of athletic freshmen who went 16-3 a year ago, winning the 1st District championship.

After working for the last 10 years at Tyson Foods, Roberson will become a full-time part of the FIS staff, serving as the alternative classroom teacher at Carr Elementary. He has two daughters, Jaslyn (3rd grade) and Jordyn (1st grade).
