Nimmo Finishes 12th, Lancaster 17th at State Golf

BOWLING GREEN - Louisville Trinity's John Marshall Butler followed up a first round 70 with a final round 69 to win the individual title at the KHSAA boys state golf championships Saturday at Bowling Green Country Club. Butler finished the tournament at 5 under to beat South Warren's CM Mixon (71-71) by three shots.

Marshall County's Jay Nimmo was the top local finisher, after a final round 71. Nimmo finished tied for 12th at 5 over 149. Mayfield's Husten Lancaster (78-73) finished tied for 17th at 7 over. Marshall County's Tyler Powell (74-79) finished tied for 26th at 9 over.

Brogan Welsh (77-82) of Murray finished tied for 48th at 15 over. McCracken County's Connor Kirkham (78-85) finished with a 19-over 163. And Trigg County's Hunter Reynolds (78-89) finished tied for 68th at 23 over.

Taylor County won the team championship at 10-over 592. St. Xavier finished second at 18-over 594. Marshall County (323-331) finished 10th at 43-over 654.
