The (3-0) Mayfield Cardinals continue to be the prime program in western Kentucky football, winning their first three games of the season including their 14th consecutive win over Paducah Tilghman. This week, Mayfield welcomes the only school that has beat them at War Memorial Stadium since 2009, the McCracken County Mustangs.

The Mustangs are coming off one of the strongest offensive performances in their seven seasons as a program. McCracken County had 604 total yards of offense against Graves County in a 65-26 win last Friday. Junior running back Hunter Bradley stole the show, rushing for 328 yards and five touchdowns on 28 carries. In two games this season, Bradley is averaging 11 yards per rush. Bradley was not the only offensive show last week. Sophomore Jeremiah Hughes Jr. rushed for 98 yards on 11 carries.

Senior quarterback Elijah Wheat passed for 159 yards and three touchdowns, with senior receiver Franklin Hayes benefiting from much of that. Hayes has 150 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns on just five pass receptions.

Mayfield's 14th consecutive win over Paducah Tilghman wasn't entirely easy from the beginning, but the Cardinals flexed their muscles in the 2nd half to get the 38-20 win over the Blue Tornado. Mayfield also looked solid in their opening week win against Lausanne Collegiate and the following week against Hopkinsville.

Senior quarterback Jayden Stinson has had a strong start to his senior season, passing for 805 yards in three games with 9 touchdown passes. Senior receiver Kade Neely leads all Mayfield receivers with 283 yards and three touchdown receptions, Alonzo Daniel has 193 yards and three touchdowns, and Diaz Perry has 132 yards receiving and a touchdown.

McCracken County and Mayfield kick off Friday at 7pm at Mayfield's War Memorial Stadium.

McCracken County and Mayfield's wins last week came against two teams facing off this week; Paducah Tilghman and Graves County.

Tilghman boasts one of their more talented teams over the last decade, with seniors Damien Ford and Jayden Freeman leading the Blue Tornado offensively. Ford is averaging just under 10 yards per game, rushing for 404 yards and six touchdowns on 46 carries this season. Freeman has chipped in with 228 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, while also bringing in 194 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. Cam Marshall has also had a strong season as the Tilghman quarterback, passing for 347 yards and two touchdowns on 21 pass completions.

Graves County has had mixed results so far in their two games. The Eagles looked strong in an opening 38-35 win over Murray, but the 65-26 loss last week against McCracken County wiped the momentum away completely.

Even in the loss, several Eagles had big performances against McCracken County. Junior quarterback John Ben Brown passed for 170 yards on 13 completions and two touchdowns. Senior receiver Nelson Browning had 94 receiving yards on just three receptions and a touchdown, and Clint McKee rushed for 94 yards on only three carries and a rushing touchdown.

The Eagles and the Blue Tornado square off Friday at 7pm at Eagles Stadium.
