The Mustangs (28-7) appeared to have seized control of the game with 55 seconds left in the 3rd quarter when they went up by 11, but the Colonels finished the quarter on a 9-0 run to cut the McCracken lead to two starting the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, a slew of McCracken turnovers proved to be too much to overcome as Oldham County (30-5) made every free throw they attempted in the final frame to get the seven-point win.
The big statistic in the game for McCracken County came in the turnover department. The Mustangs committed 17 turnovers against outstanding half and full court pressure from Oldham County.
McCracken County sophomore Jackson Sivills lead all scorers with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Senior Wes Belt had 14 points and senior Cam Cartwright chipped in with 11 points for McCracken County.
Zach Larimore scored a game-high 20 points for the Colonels and Travis Henderson added 18 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
The Mustangs' 28 wins is a program record. McCracken County claimed its third 2nd
District Championship in five season and second 1st Region
Championship.
