One of the best girls high school basketball players in western Kentucky has made her college decision.

Maddie Waldrop, a 6' 2” senior and second team AP All-State selection, committed to UT Martin Thursday. She made the announcement on Twitter.

Waldrop averaged 14.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game as a junior for the 35-2 Lady Tigers, who brought home the All “A” Classic state championship in January and the 1st Region title in March. Murray advanced to this year's KHSAA state semifinals, where they fell to Butler 68-58.

“UT-Martin is getting an outstanding basketball player but an even better person,” Murray Head Coach Rechelle Turner said.

Waldrop tore the ACL in her right knee during a team camp game last week in Murray. Waldrop is scheduled to have surgery to repair the torn ligament July 8.
