Murray Wins Fourth Regional Title in a Row

MURRAY - The Murray Lady Tigers are regional champions yet again

Angela Gierhart scored 15 points as Murray beat Marshall County 38-29 in the First Region championship game Tuesday night at the CFSB Center. 

It's the Lady Tigers' fourth regional title in a row, and sixth overall. With Tuesday night's win, Murray has now won 62 straight games against Region 1 teams.

After trailing 9-6 at the end of the 1st quarter, the Lady Tigers outscored Marshall 10-7 in the second quarter, leaving the game tied 16-16 at halftime.

Murray's lead grew to five at the end of the third quarter, 30-25, and the Lady Tigers' defense held Marshall to only four 4th quarter points.

Tournament MVP Lizzie Curtis scored 13 points and Callie Carver had 10. No other Lady Tiger scored.

Halle Langhie led Marshall County with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Cayson Conner had 8 points.

The Lady Tigers will play Ryle Wednesday, March 13 at 7:00 pm central time in the first round of the girls state tournament at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
