The McCracken County Mustangs baseball team advanced to the second round of the KHSAA state tournament Friday with a 1-0 victory over top-ranked Louisville Trinity.

Eric Chumbler, the voice of the Mustangs, said it was a pitcher's duel. McCracken County only had 3 hits, while Trinity had 2.

The lone run of the game came in the second innning when Kiael Waldon got a base hit to right with two outs, knocking in Dalton Eads.

Chumbler said, "Junior pitcher Luke Seed pitched 6 shutout innings, with only one walk and eight strikeouts, against the number-one ranked team in the state."

Senior pitcher Caleb Reinhardt pitched the seventh inning for the save. Chumbler said he threw less than the 25-pitch limit Friday, which means he is eligible to pitch Saturday if needed.

The Mustangs will face the winner of Friday evening's game between Scott County (32-7-1) and Caldwell County (26-9). The second round game is set for Saturday at 5 pm.

Chumbler's broadcast from Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington will begin at 4:30 pm.
