Mayfield Beats McCracken 51-21 to Stay Unbeaten

WESTERN KENTUCKY - The Mayfield Cardinals wasted little time jumping out on McCracken County, winning 51-21 over the Mustangs at Marquette Stadium Friday night.

On the Cardinals opening drive, Jayden Stinson located Kent Trey Matthews for a 31 yard touchdown to make it 7-0 with 7:49 left in the 1st quarter.

Mayfield (4-0) started with the football in the 2nd quarter and quickly struck again; this time Stinson found Diaz Perry for a 53 yard touchdown to make it 17-0.

The Mustangs (1-3) fought back on their next drive. Junior quarterback Elijah Wheat orchestrated an 8-play drive down the field while Franklin Hayes punched it in from 2 yards out to make it 17-7 Mayfield with 9:19 left in the 2nd quarter.

Then Mayfield took over. The Cardinals would score on their next five possessions through the 2nd quarter and midway through the fourth quarter to explode to a 44-7 lead. Franklin Hayes would reach the end zone for a 2nd time on a 2 yard run and Elijah Wheat connected with Alex Miezio for a 3 yard touchdown in the final minutes for McCracken County.


Makel Askew scored three times as Paducah Tilghman throttled Graves County 41-7 Friday night at McRight Field.

The Eagles (1-3) took a 7-0 lead on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Mathis to Jacob Savage with 8:15 left in the first quarter.

Askew scored his first touchdown of the night on a 4-yard run with 8:56 left in the first half to tie the game, 7-7. Askew put Tilghman (3-1) up 14-7 on a 36-yard touchdown run with 2:04 left in the first half.

Colbe Crim's 50-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second half put the Blue Tornado up 21-7. Two third quarter field goals by Lance Butler stretched the Tilghman lead to 27-7.

Askew scored his third and final touchdown on a 6-yard run, giving Tilghman a 34-7 lead with 4:34 left in the game. Tilghman's last score came on a 52-yard touchdown run by Damien Ford.

Askew finished with 154 yards on 23 carries. Crim rushed 15 times for 181 yards and Ford finished with 94 yards on six carries.
