The Massac County girls golf team came from three strokes down on the final day to overtake Rockford Lutheran by six strokes and claim the school's fourth Illinois state golf championship on Saturday in Decatur.

The Lady Patriots fired a team two-day total of 665, pulling away on the back nine from Rockford, who shot 671. The other southern Illinois representative, Nashville, finished third as they edged out Champaign St. Thomas Moore by a single stroke at 680.

Massac was led by junior Millie Lawson's two-day score of 161 (81-80) and senior Emma Korte's 164 (83-81). The Lady Patriots also carded twin 170s from Mady Blair and Madie Coakley, 185 by Lauren Coakley and 226 by Madison Cunningham.

Massac County adds its fourth state title trophy to others claimed in 2012, 2009, and 2006. The Lady Patriots have been one of the most dominant schools in Illinois girls golf, making their 13th consecutive appearance in the state finals, with 11 finishes in the top five.
