Marshall County High School has announced the hiring of Mallory Newton as its new head softball coach. Newton takes over for Trent Lovett, who stepped down earlier this week.

Newton will assume the duties of head coach on January 1, 2018. Newton has spent the last four years playing for the Murray State Racers Softball team. She has also been coaching on the national softball circuit with the Kentucky Magic softball team.

Newton has helped send 13 players on to college softball careers including five to the Division 1 level. She was a standout player for the Marshall County High School softball team graduating in 2013.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to hire Coach Newton to lead our softball program,” stated Mike Johnson, Athletic Director. “She is a great young coach and we are excited to have the former Lady Marshal back home.”
