Josh Frick was introduced Friday as the new boys’ basketball coach at Graves County High School.

"I'm very humbled and grateful for the opportunity to lead the basketball program at GCHS," Frick said. "It's an honor to lead the program that I have been a part of since I was in elementary school, and I want to give our athletes the same opportunities that I had as a player and coach in this program."

Frick is a 2004 graduate of Graves County and played for Allan Hatcher. Frick has been a part of the Eagles’ staff for the past 10 years. He was an assistant under Hatcher for three years. He then spent two years coaching basketball at Graves County Middle School. For the past seven seasons, he’s been an assistant under Terry Birdsong, who left earlier this month to become the new boys’ basketball coach at Calloway County High School. Frick's record as the Eagles' freshmen and junior varsity coach is a combined record of 131-35.

"I'm thankful for coach Hatcher and coach Birdsong who gave me an opportunity to learn from them the past 10 years,” Frick said. “They have done an excellent job of building this program into a regional contender year in and year out and I look forward to continuing that tradition and moving the program forward."

During his ten years with the Eagles’ program, Frick has been a part of three regional championships, two regional runner-up finishes and three state tournament appearances, including a trip to the state semifinals in 2006.

Frick is a 2009 graduate of Murray State University with a degree in learning and behavior disorders and middle school math. He graduated in May with his Masters degree from University of the Cumberlands.

Frick is married and has two kids. He’s been a teacher at Graves County Middle School the last four years. He also serves as youth pastor and deacon at Liberty Baptist Church in Hickory.
