Some local high school football games will start later than originally scheduled due to this weekend's excessive heat.

Friday's games that have been moved back include Ballard Memorial at McLean County at 8 pm, Caldwell County’s game at Christian County will now kick off at 7:30 pm, and Trigg County at Russellville will start at 8 pm.

Saturday night’s game between McCracken County and Paducah Tilghman has been moved back to 7:30 pm.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association has rules in place to protect student-athletes in hot weather. The KHSAA requires the heat index be below 100 for outside activity involving helmets or protective gear. If the heat index is between 95 and 99 degress, players must take 10-minute water breaks every 30 minutes.
