Chris Vogt has blocked his way into the Kentucky High School Athletic Association record books.

The Graves County big man needed four blocked shots in Thursday night's 3rd District Championship game to set a new single season record for blocked shots. He ended the night with 11. He also scored 21 points as Graves County beat Mayfield 76-50.

Vogt, a 6'11” junior, now holds the state record for most blocked shots in a season with 181. Garrard County's Michael Taylor had held the state record since 2000, when he blocked 173 shots.

“It means a lot because it's a great reward for all the hard work I've put in,” Vogt said. “I've left my mark on Kentucky high school basketball.”

Vogt could add to his total. His Graves County Eagles will play at least one more game this season when they open play at next week's 1st Region Tournament in Murray.

Vogt also holds the state record for most blocked shots in a single game. He blocked 17 shots in a game earlier this year against Webster County. He shares the record with former Paducah Tilghman star Isaac McClure, who ironically blocked 17 shots against Graves County in 2008.
