Marshall County (3-2, 0-1) did everything they could to hang around with Christian County (5-1, 1-0), but in the end, the Colonels were too much for the much improved Marshals Friday night, beating the Marshals 40-13 in Draffenville.

Christian County’s Trequan Taylor gave the Colonels an early 7-0 lead on his 3-yard touchdown run, but Marshall County responded quickly as Mason Green found the endzone on a 14-yard touchdown run of his own to tie the game at 7. Kolbe Langhi would put the Colonels back on top as the quarterback would use his legs on a 15-yard scamper to make it 15-7 in the first quarter.

Christian County would extend the lead to 22-7, but Marshall County was able to cut the lead to 12 on a 32-yard field goal by Daniel Gardner. Christian County would finish the game on a 18-6 run to coast to victory at Marshall County’s Traylor Stadium.

The Colonels host Owensboro next week while the Marshals travel to Eagles Stadium to take on Graves County.

The Caldwell County Tigers (3-3, 1-0) grabbed an early lead in the Class 3A District 1 standings with their dominating 45-20 road win over Paducah Tilghman (1-5, 0-1) Friday night.

Tilghman was able to grab the lead first late in the first quarter, but that was about the only good news they had on the night. Caldwell would use a 45-13 run to coast to win at Tilghman’s McRight Field. Caldwell County quarterback Shane Burns was the story Friday night as he had five touchdown passes on the night against Tilghman.

Caldwell County hosts Union County Friday night while Paducah Tilghman travels to Trigg County next week.

The McCracken County Mustangs (4-2, 1-0) would use a dominant second half to cruise to victory over Daviess County, 62-20.

McCracken led at the half 21-7 but used a 41-13 2nd half scoring run for the easy district win. Junior running back TaeShawn Allen provided the big spark of the night in the 2nd half for McCracken as he reeled off the longest touchdown run in school history with the 85-yard touchdown run to make it 21-0 McCracken County.

The Mustangs had 600 yards of offense vs the Panthers.

McCracken County travels to Ohio County Friday night.

Quarterback Ryan Mathis ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more as Graves County (4-2, 1-0) beat Owensboro Apollo (2-4, 0-1) 51-28 at Eagle Stadium in Mayfield.

Mathis had touchdown passes of 76 yards and 12 yards, both to Jake Mills. Mathis' 1-yard touchdown run put Graves County up 10-7 late in the first quarter. His 3-yard touchdown run gave Graves a 23-14 halftime lead.

Mathis' biggest run of the night was a 60-yard touchdown in the 4th quarter, giving Graves a 51-20 advantage. Trevor Grant and Brennan Culp also had touchdown runs for Graves County.

The Eagles are back at home for another district game Friday night as they host Marshall County.
