Clapp has spent the last 30 years coaching women's basketball at the collegiate level, including six years as head coach at the University of Louisville. He also had coaching stops at Arkansas College, Little Rock, Murray State, Indiana and Purdue.
Clapp, a 1981 graduate of Marshall County High School, takes over for Joseph Simmons, who stepped down last month to take another head coaching job in Tennessee. Simmons went 178-59 over seven seasons as head coach at Marshall. Under him the Lady Marshals had two district championships and three consecutive Region 1 titles from 2012 to 2014.
