Zion Harmon scored 18 points and Bowling Green captured its state championship with a 67-56 win over Cooper on Sunday in the KHSAA Boys' Sweet 16 final.

Bowling Green (36-2) lost the championship two years ago to Owensboro and had fallen to the eventual state champion in each of the previous three tournaments. The Purples closed this season with 29 consecutive wins.

Terry Taylor had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Bowling Green, the 4th Region champion. The Purples' leading scorer in their 2015 runner-up finish was named the tournament's most valuable player with 82 points and 40 rebounds over four games.

Taylor's 11 third-quarter points helped Bowling Green build a 36-23 lead. Cooper rallied to within 45-40 early in the fourth before the Purples scored 16 of the next 19 points to put the Jaguars away.

Sean McNeil scored 20 points and Adam Kunkel added 13 to lead Cooper (31-5), the 9th Region champion making its first state tournament appearance.
