Coach Coby Lewis enters his 9th season as the head football coach of the Trigg County Wildcats, and Coach Lewis’ squad has the Cadiz community quite optimistic for the 2019 season.

The Wildcats have improved steadily since 2015. In the 2015 season, the young Wildcats finished the season with two wins and eight losses. Trigg County stepped up to three wins in 2016, five wins in 2017, and five wins again in 2018. With this year’s squad, Coach Lewis and the Tigers look to set the bar a bit higher.

The skill positions look to be a strong suit this season for Trigg County. Dual-threat quarterback Cameron Jordon leads the Wildcats offense once again. In 2018, Jordon threw for 1,508 passing yards and 12 touchdowns on 114 pass completions. However, it was Jordon’s running game that really sparked the Wildcats offense last season. Jordon ran for 933 yards on 229 rushing attempts for 15 touchdowns last season.

Also sparking the ground game last season was Jude Hunter. Hunter, a senior, looks to lead the ground game this season after his 353 rushing yards last season. Hunter also accounted for 121 receiving yards last season.

One of the biggest pieces returning for the 2019 Wildcats is senior JaKobe Bridges. In 2018, Bridges led all Trigg County receivers with 738 receiving yards on 48 receptions and 9 touchdowns. Bridges also rushed for 261 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns. Also returning through transfer is running back Tayshaun Barker. Barker was on Trigg County’s squad in 2017 and returns for 2019. Senior receiver Josh Visingardi will be another valuable returning starter as well.

Trigg County will also return several key players on the defensive side of the football as well. Senior Trevor Lewis returns at defensive end, senior Cade Bleidt returns at middle linebacker, junior Jaquellus Martin returns at defensive back, sophomore Kenny Adams will be at outside linebacker, and senior Jacob Kent is a returning safety.

The offensive and defensive line will be the biggest question marks this season for Coach Lewis’ squad. While the Wildcats will have size on the line this season, the Wildcats only return one offensive lineman from last season – senior offensive tackle Jacob Stallons.
