The 2014-15 season is the first year of a 12-year schedule rotation during which teams that are not partners play five years at home only; five years on the road only; and two years both home and road. The Cardinals will have designated rivals Pittsburgh and Virginia both home and away each of the next two seasons as each team will face 10 opponents once and four twice.
In Louisville’s first year in the 15-team league, the Cardinals’ home ACC opponents in 2014-15 will consist of Clemson, Duke, North Carolina, NC State, Miami, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. UofL’s nine league road games will be at Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Miami, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia, and Wake Forest.
“It’s just an awesome schedule for our fans,” said UofL Coach Rick Pitino. “This is like being back in the best years of the Big East, southern style. We’re very excited to take on this challenge. I relish the thought of facing competition and programs that I haven’t personally seen before.”

Louisville is one of at least six ACC teams that have been included in very early rankings for next season, a list which includes three of the Cardinals’ four repeat opponents in North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Virginia (also Duke and Syracuse). UofL is 10th nationally in early preseason rankings by USA Today (Scott Gleeson) and CBS Sports (Gary Parrish), 12th by ESPN.com (Eamonn Brennan), 20th by SI.com (Seth Davis) and 21st by SportingNews.com (Ryan Fagan).
U of L will welcome back starters Chris Jones and All-America candidate Montrezl Harrell among nine total lettermen from last season’s successful team that posted a 31-6 record, won the American Athletic Conference tournament championship and shared the regular season title, and made the Cardinals’ 20th NCAA Sweet 16 appearance.
