Murray State's Jonathan Stark was named Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for a third-straight week when the league's sports information directors voted on Monday.

The junior guard from Munford, Tennessee, has made quite a splash in only six games in the Murray State uniform.

In games last week against Bowling Green and Alabama A&M, Stark scored 22.5 points per game on 83 percent shooting. His week from the 3-point line was amazing when he hit 10-of-12. He also had seven assists and three steals. Against Bowling Green, he scored a season-high 28 points on 6-of-7 from the 3-point line and against Alabama A&M, he scored 17 points on 4-of-5 shots.

In OVC and NCAA D-I rankings, Stark is second and 48th in scoring with 20.8 points per game and fifth and 37th with a 3-point percentage of .511. Stark is also finding teammates for baskets too. He's first in the OVC with 35 assists and ranked 24th in the nation. His 24 3-point baskets are first in the OVC and seventh in the nation.

The Racers have two games this week starting with a road contest Tuesday at Southern Illinois at 7 pm. MSU is home Saturday to host Detroit at 7 pm.
