Murray State's Jonathan Stark was named Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for a seventh time this season after a vote by the league's sports information directors.

Stark has now won the OVC Newcomer of the Week award seven times this season, tying the OVC single-season record of seven held by Jacksonville State's Trenton Marshall (2009-10) and SEMO's Jarekious Bradley (2013-14) and Murray State's Jarvis Williams (2013-14). 

Stark, a junior from Munford, Tennessee, averaged 22.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists/game last week as the Racers split games at home against SIUE and Eastern Illinois.

In a win against SIUE to begin the week, he 6-of-7 3-pointers on his way to 27 points. He closed the week by scoring 18 points on 3-of-7 3-point shooting against Eastern Illinois.

Stark currently ranks first in the OVC in scoring (21.2 points/game), second in assists (5.5/game), 3-pointers made/game (3.0) and minutes played (35.6/game).

The Racers enter the final week of the regular season with must win games at Southeast Missouri on Thursday and UT Martin Saturday.
